When it comes to campus-related recycling:
- UT collects all types of paper for recycling in one stream. In any paper recycling bin you can recycle newspaper, computer paper, magazines, junk mail and cereal boxes!
- Plastic bottles and aluminum can recycling bins are located in every campus building. When you finish your beverage don’t forget to sink your drink!
- UT recycles more than 1,500 pounds of cardboard each day. Cardboard for recycling must be flattened and all packing material must be removed.
General recycling related facts:
- Did you know that the average American generates 4.7 pounds of waste each day? More than half of this material can be recycled on campus!
- Recycling one ton of aluminum cans saves 37 barrels of oil
- It takes 95% less energy to recycle a can than to make that same can from virgin materials
- Recycling paper uses 60 percent less energy than manufacturing paper from virgin timber.
